This is your opportunity to show your creativity and potentially win $500 by submitting your inspirational photo and description (max 300 words).

Entry Criteria

Photos and their descriptions will be judged according to how well they meet our theme about inspiring others to do better for our world by making us rethink how we can avoid, reduce, reuse or recycle our waste.

Key Dates

Open – 30 of August 2019
Close – 27 of October 2019
Exhibition – National Recycling Week (9th to 17th November)

How to Enter

  1. Take photo
  2. Write about your photo (max 300 words) including a title for your submission
  3. Ensure your photo is of the right size, quality and format
  4. Visit www.nirw.org.au/photocomp/submit , fill in the forms and upload your photo
  5. Accept the terms and conditions
  6. Submit!

How To Enter – For Instagram

  1. Download Instagram
  2. Take and edit your photo
  3. Upload your photo to Instagram with the tags @northerninlandregionalwaste and #InspireUs (Instagram privacy setting must be set to ‘public’ for us to retrieve your photo)

Prizes

NIRW is offering prepaid giftcards as prizes for several different categories:

  • Instagram – ($200) (Use the Tags @northerninlandregionalwaste #InspireUs)
  • Primary School – ($200) (Kindergarten to Year 6)
  • Secondary School – ($300) (Year 7 to Year 12)
  • Open ($500) – (Available to non-school students)
  • Overall Winner – ($500)
  • People’s Choice – ($500)

People’s Choice Award

During National Recycling Week we’ll be launching the People’s Choice Award, where you can get online and vote for your favourite entry.

Voting in the people’s Choice Award will launch on Saturday 9th of November 2019.

Exhibition

Images will be displayed at the Armidale Library during National Recycling Week and at the Black Gully Reserve Festival on the 9th of November

Rules (more in Terms and Conditions)

  • Entry is free
  • Maximum Image Size is 5MB in JPEG format
  • Image editing is allowed (to a reasonable degree)
  • Maximum of 300 words for submission of the description
  • The entrant must be the creator and copyright owner of the submitted image
  • Only residents in the following 12 Local Government Areas are eligible (including for the Instagram category): Armidale Regional Council, Glen Innes Severn Council, Gunnedah Shire Council, Gwydir Shire Council, Inverell Shire Council, Liverpool Plains Shire Council, Moree Plains Shire Council, Narrabri Shire Council, Tamworth Regional Council, Tenterfield Shire Council, Uralla Shire Council and Walcha Council.
