Northern Inland Regional Waste (NIRW) is working with the Department of Environment, Climate Change & Water and your local Council to provide drop off centres for old and left over chemicals from around the home and farm.

This is your chance to dispose of things like:-

  • Paint & paint related products
  • Pesticides, herbicides & poisons
  • Solvents & household cleaners
  • Motor fuels & fluids
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Pool chemicals
  • Acids & alkalis
  • Hobby chemicals
  • Smoke alarms
  • Fluoro Tubes

AND THE FIRST 20kg are free!!!

Only rural & household quantities will be accepted.

Please contact your local Council to book in quantities over 50kg.

The Annual NIRW Chemical Collection Campaign has been in operation for a number of years and has been gauged an immense success in minimizing environmental and health risks for the region. This program is conducted in July & August of each year.

The program is conducted for unwanted farm and household chemicals. This is an annual campaign and there are various collection sites within the NIRW Member Council region. 

The program is aimed at reducing the risk of accidental poisoning and the inappropriate disposal of chemicals within the environment.

2009 Collection Results

In 2009 this campaign collected a total 17,502 kg of rural and household hazardous waste which was diverted from landfills and the environment.
